Built in 1978, the building at 3801 N. Navarro St. started life as a fast food burger joint but most recently, it was two different Mexican restaurants: Kingòòò½ÊÓƵ™s Bar and Grill and Los Reyes Mexican Grill. Now, life is being breathed back into the once empty building as a new business moves in.
When the restaurant first opened almost 50 years ago, it was a Burger King restaurantòòò½ÊÓƵ”Victoriaòòò½ÊÓƵ™s first one at that. For a time it was a beloved Greek restaurant called Athena's Seafood and Steak House. After that, the 4,296 square foot building was Kingòòò½ÊÓƵ™s Bar and Grill before it later became home to Los Reyes Mexican Grill. Los Reyes originally opened in 2011 at 6908 N. Navarro St. which is now a pawn shop.
For the past six months or so, crews have been renovating and giving the almost 50 year old building a facelift working on electrical and plumbing to open up a new Mexican restaurant in town. According to permits filed with the City of Victoria, the restaurant is owned by Hector Santa Cruz and will be Tequilaòòò½ÊÓƵ™s Mexican Bar and Grill.
