Shiner and Ganado head to Arlington and hope to return with a state football championship.

Shiner (12-3) will take on Muenster (13-2) in the Class 2A, Division II final at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Ganado (14-1) will face Stamford (15-0) in the Class 2A, Division I final at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Shiner is making its seventh appearance in the state final and is seeking its fifth state championship.

The Comanches most recent state crown came in 2021. They also won the title in 2020. The 2021 state title was the last UIL football title won by an area team.

Shiner comes into the game having won 12 straight games after starting the season with three losses.

ƵAt this point, everybodyƵs fighting for that one goal and MuensterƵs going to be there with the same mentality that we are,Ƶ Shiner head coach Daniel Boedeker said. ƵWeƵre going to have to match the physicality of the game and play our best game of the year.Ƶ

Ganado is making its first appearance in the state championship game. The Indians advanced to the semifinals last season before losing to eventual state champion Timpson.

Ganado Ƶs lone loss this season was to East Bernard, a game starting quarterback Bryce Ullman and starting running back Logan Bures both missed due to with injuries.

ƵItƵs really exciting,Ƶ Ganado head coach Josh Ervin said. ƵIƵm super excited for the kids, the community, the assistant coaches, everyoneƵs just worked so hard over the past year to reach this point and weƵre excited to be able to go compete on the biggest stage. ItƵs something that theyƵre going to remember forever.Ƶ
