Betty Lorraine Harvey
VICTORIA òòò½ÊÓƵ” Mrs. Betty Lorraine Harvey, 100, affectionally known as òòò½ÊÓƵœMaMaòòò½ÊÓƵ and cornerstone of her family, went home peacefully to the Lord on March 9, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Betty was born in Oakland, California on October 5, 1924, to Joseph and Inga Travis. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1942. Betty attended business college following high school. She soon met the love of her life, Howard Pearl (HP) Harvey, and they were married August 22,1945. They moved to Texas in 1946. They had two children, Dennis and Catherine.
Throughout her life, she loved traveling, spending time with her immediate and extended family, bowling, reading, crafting, playing games and solving crossword puzzles. Betty was a beloved Avon lady, attending conventions at every opportunity. She worked in various roles including as a Rural Postal carrier, the café at Victoria Regional Airport, the Texas Workforce Commission and seasonally for Hickory Farms, probably for a complimentary ham. Betty had an extraordinary love for the Lord and attended First Baptist Church of Victoria.
Betty is survived by her daughter Catherine Weldon (David), grandchildren Stacey Hurst (Joseph), Clint Gould (Kendra), Tammy Talley, Christopher Harvey (Laurie), and Kimberly Neill (Nathan). Great-grandchildren Autumn Hurst, Winter Portis (Samuel), Spring Hurst, Kayla Gould, Rebecca Talley, Christian Harvey, Samantha Talley, Cole Neill, William Harvey, Henry (HP) Neill and Antonin Harvey. Great-great grandchildren Ava Hurst, Aurora and Amelia Monroe.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, HP Harvey, son, Dennis Harvey and sisters Ethyl McCord, Jeane Parsons and Marion Travis.
Pallbearers for her service are Christopher Harvey, Christian Harvey, Nathan Neill, Cole Neill, Joseph Hurst and Samuel Portis. Honorary pallbearers are David Weldon, Clint Gould and Bryan Harvey.
She taught all of us that the ordinary can be remarkable.
Services will be held at Grace Memorial Chapel, 8819 Hwy 87 North, Victoria, TX, 77904. The visitation is Friday, 14 March, 5:30-7:30 PM. Funeral will be at 1 PM on Saturday, March 15. A reception will follow at Grace Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends may donate to Gideon International, Samaritanòòò½ÊÓƵ™s Purse or American Family Radio (AFR) network.
