Nancy Tolbert Denison
VICTORIA òòò½ÊÓƵ” On Saturday November 30th, Nancy Tolbert Denison passed away peacefully after losing her battle with a rare form of leukemia. Nancy was born on May 25, 1947, in San Angelo, TX, but was a lifelong Victorian. She was the youngest of 3 children born to Chiquita and Jesse Tolbert. Nancy graduated from Nazareth Academy in 1965 where she was a member of several organizations including cheerleading and Homecoming Queen. She attended classes at Victoria College and graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a bacheloròòò½ÊÓƵ™s degree in education. After college, Nancy went to work at VISD where she taught third graders for 30 years. After her retirement from teaching, she went to work with Kidz Connection, a program to help children and families in need.
Nancy was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Daughters, and she would often volunteer her time to spend with the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament Convent. She also did volunteer work with Hospice of South Texas. Her hobbies included collecting and creating art with rocks and gems, a hobby handed down by her parents who were avid rockhounds. Her parents also owned the Dairy Treet where Nancy spent most of her adolescent and teen years working.
Our Nanny was a constant bright light to so many. She showed love and joy to every person she crossed paths with and always had a warm and loving smile that touched your heart. She would often say her best accomplishment in life were her children and grandchildren with God at the center.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Lisa Lively and her Husband, Matt; son, Robert Bradley Denison; grandchildren, Mason Lively and wife, Kelly, Andrew Lively, Luke Lively and great-grandson, Hudson Scott Lively.
